The Sew Weekly Sewing Circle

I was thinking about posting my first ever dress but I didn’t wanted to leave the mistakes untalked, as could be a lesson for someone.

1st mistake was: Bad choice of pattern - Not flattening for my body shape (hourglass)

2nd mistake: wrong choice of fabric for a beginner- very slippery and easily fraying and worst- marked all the pins so every mistake as visible.

But then the mistakes just started to pile up but at the end I had manage to finish and I’m proud that I persevered instead of trash away all the hard work I had already put in it.

In the end I learned important lessons and that’s why, although I don’t wear it, I keep as my personal reference.

Thank you for posting this - it's really useful for all beginning sewers to understand that they are not alone in making errors both in sewing and judgement of what pattern will suit one's bodyshape. I do love the sparkly waistband and sleeves though.
