The Sew Weekly Sewing Circle

I'm thinking about purchasing pattern drafting software. Any suggestions?

I'm so tired of patterns not fitting just how I would like. I'd like to try designing my own garments. Does anyone use  pattern-making software that they recommend and that is resonably priced?

I'm in the middle of a pattern drafting course and we use this The Pattern Drafter.

Its almost $400 dollars but our teacher swears by it! Hope it helps!

Hi,

I got Pattern Master Boutique (PMB5) from Wild Ginger for Christmas last year, and I love it. It's around $225. You can just download it or request a CD, and they have great tech support if you have questions. I'm an intermediate seamstress who has had the same problem you described. The software is meant for home sewers or small shop owners, and it works great for me! http://www.wildginger.com/

I've got this book as well, my first use was to combine two of the pattens to make a double breasted coat for my 9 year old daughter, using the double breasted crop jacket with the tailored blouse.  This worked reasonably well, but I do know my way around basic pattern drafting.  The second time I was trying out the tie-front tunic for myself, and I came to the conclusion that I really DO NOT like the shape of the arm hole that these patterns produce.

By the way I have just made up a free skirt from http://leko-mail.net/index.html  which is adjusted to your measurements and then available as a download to print at home.  It fits really nicely, looks like the drawing and I am really pleased with it and will probably use the pattern again.  They have a few free patterns, and then a larger range for sale.  ( photo will be posted later)
