The Sew Weekly Sewing Circle

My sewing machine is still not working properly and is on its way to the rubbish tip if it doesn't improve very very soon. It has one final chance this morning but if the engineer can't sort it out once and for all I am getting a new one before I also lose my sanity!

Someone posted a link a bit ago to sewing machine reviews but I can't find it again, if anyone has that link I'd be grateful.

The shop I am going to for a new machine has a special offer on Frister + Rossmann machines. The one I fancy looks good on the net but I have never heard of this company. Any thoughts?

Guests are overrated I always think ;0)

Actually I am trying to get hubbie to shell out for an overlocker for my birthday (as my mother will buy me a new machine if that's what I want) so that is good to know. It does feel a bit greedy to get the two machines at once though!

I have never even used an overlocker so more thought required - I know everyone here to has one thinks well of them!

Hi Charolette T' 's Hubby..

I really think Charolette needs an overlocker for  her birthday.. She is such a good wife and mother.. And just think..how much money ,she will save you on clothes.. Not only for herself but for Minnie me, too..

She would be the 'happiest girl around" if she got surprised with an overlocker machine...yea.yea..

I second this idea! Charlotte also has a group of women that turn to her for inspiration and humor, to fulfill this " obligation" she needs the right tools and support...an overlock would certainly fit the requirements.

I also have heard an overlock is better than diamonds and expensive vacations (CT you are cool with this right???), certainly the best way to show your appreciation and love...

I am actually laughing out loud at the idea I might expect diamonds or expensive holidays Cathe, tee hee,  or that Mr T might surprise me with something nice Judy. Mr T has his strengths but present buying isn't one of them. This is hilarious!

I usually just tell him what I want now, or I get nothing (or something I don't want, like a slow cooker). Sometimes I buy it myself and we just say it was a present. I have an amazon wishlist now to solve this problem, all he has to do is click a bit, not even visit a shop! You two are sooooo funny.

Actually the main problem is that I would never expect a present that expensive. Maybe as it is a big birthday I can treat myself (plus Mr T has a big birthday the month after and he wants an ipad). I'm working on it!

You go girl..keep working on him.. If  you dont persuade him... for your big birthday. Remember , Christmas is right around the corner.hahahha.. We are trying out best to help you out..lol

Yes, but it is useful doing the 'archaelogical excavations' down to 'bedrock' so to speak, if only to find long lost clean washing (scanties) and sewing projects - lol.

Charolette... No new undercrackers..sorry Kenny.. [Your dresser drawers will only hold so many  undercrackers, hahahahha]

Stevie..that is so funny that you call them underoos.. My son is  34 yrs old and when he was a little boy, they came up with cartoon type character underwear [for girls and boys] anyway , they had matching tshirts/tank tops..]This was the 'BIG ' thing ..and all the little kids loved them.. They run around in these underoos and loved them.

They now have underwear and panties in  all different characters and its no big deal..but back then..it was a big thing..called UNDEROOS... ha

hee hee hee, underoos.  I had Wonder Woman underoos when I was a kid.

Hi Farah,

Yes.. my daughter had the Wonder Woman underoos too..She loved them..  My son had Hulk...ha

Another two names lor ladies unthings 'bloomers' and 'passion killers'

In conclusion:

I have bought a new machine. I went this morning to be shown it at the engineer's place. It's upstairs. It's a Janome. Thanks everyone for your support and advice xx

Oooh new shiny plaything! I hope it works well for you and by the sounds of it it can't be any worse than your old one. Now go sew buttons on your drawers (or whatever that crazy saying was, hahaha)
