The Sew Weekly Sewing Circle

I can't believe it's already Friday! Where does the time go?

Next week, we take inspiration from album covers (yes, like record covers before everything was digital).

Good luck!

Good job I still have a box of my old vinyl! I could never part with it ...

Very interesting idea! :-)

Thanks!

Great idea Mena!

I have found some inspiration for us

Rolling Stone magazine's top 100 covers (list made in 1991) (I am thinking of doing number 14 - not)

http://rateyourmusic.com/list/fedderedder/rolling_stones_100_greate...

30 greatest covers of all time

http://www.bspcn.com/2011/04/26/30-greatest-album-covers-of-all-time/

I did look up the worst ones to but some were in such bad taste I am not putting the link here ;0)

What fun!

I think you should now!!

Thanks for that flashback Charlotte! Some I had totally forgotten about!

I don't know why you wouldn't want to go with #14…it seems so you!

tee hee ;0)

After looking at the Rolling Stones list I felt like they sure didn't cover Jazz so here's a few more really great covers! They are illustrated by greats like: Jim Flora, Paul Rogers, Andy Warhol…wowza! Plus the design is so awesome, they are just fun to look at!

I had to include Herb Albert's Tijuana Brass, this was my parent's favorite. Probably not the way to go for this challenge but the music is so fun!

Love the Dave Brubeck one and Take Five has always been one of my favourites.

Whipped Cream & Other Delights!  Classic!  I think everyone's parents had that album.

I may go disco though....

Oh yes please! Here's your inspiration!

But now what about Motown? Maybe the Supremes…

There is an endless amount of lovely images to be inspired by!

I think Herb Albert's would be great. Just picture a nice sun dress in white eyelet...maybe use Casey's 50s dress tutorial http://blog.caseybrowndesigns.com/2011/07/50s-dress-tutorial-pt-1/
If you look down far enough on Charlotte's second link (30 greatest album covers) you will see an interesting take on this Tijuana Brass album LOL look for the Soul Asylum's Clam Dip & Other Delights.
