The Sew Weekly Sewing Circle

Hello Ladies!

Most of you are probably aware of the historic fashion auction that occurred this week from Debbie Reynold's collection on www.profilesinhistory.com .  Included in the monumentous auction were several pieces from the "Sound of Music" film.  While you probably weren't able to purchase one (since they all cost around 40k!) I thought I would post pictures of an original dress from the "Sound of Music" movie that I viewed on display.  This is the one worn by Julie Andrews for the carriage scene during the "Do-Re-Mi" song.  You can read the full article on my blog here.

Hope you enjoy it!

Great website - and I particularly liked your tutorial on how to make a seam lay flat. I will be making better looking seams from now on.

Amazing the details on the 'Do-Re-Mi' song dress - all of those stripes so perfectly placed.

Thanks so much, Jen!  The five-step pressing method really does work, too!  I don't always enjoy the tedious work, but it sure makes it look a lot better.

Happy sewing!
