The Sew Weekly Sewing Circle

Some of us have started saying we'd like a UK meet up.... sooooo, who is interested? And where do you live? And are you willing to travel???????

I have just looked at the rail map of the uk, we could meet centrally somewhere, sometime this summer? We seem to have people from Edinburgh to Devon....

I'll start, I live in Lincolnshire, I can travel within reason (!), but I need some time to organise babysitting ;0) I would LOVE to meet some of the people I have met online and chat about sewing...

Who's in?

I haven't!  But I'd make an effort to be at an annual get-together anyway.
Darnit! I'm in Victoria, but there is no Albert around. Ballarat Victoria, Australia is a long way from London so Ladies, have a lovely gettogether and take loads of photos. Hopefully we'll see a few Horrocks dresses, but we'll love to see you in red, white and blue no matter what style it takes.
I concur, no Victoria or Albert here but l look forward to pictures and posts. So very exciting!
I've been out shopping  in the sunshine today and I have my fabric for the red, white and blue challenge!  I've also sellotaped together my downloaded pattern, so I'm all set - how exciting!

oh, exciting! are you doing the Horrockses? I have stickytaped mine but it will need considerable grading around the bosom!

what fabric did you get????

Charolette, what about you? are you doing the horrockses dress? what about fabric.have you found yours yet? Hope your having a good week.
Ladies please post pictures of your Horrockes dresses for those of us on the other side of the pond. Finding fabric to get the effect in the picture is proving a challenge.  These have promise http://www.hartsfabric.com/echino-fabric-etsuko-furuya59489.html and http://www.hartsfabric.com/39808.html, but the price is slowing me down.
those fabrics are beautiful - and loads cheaper than what you would pay here, I am very jealous, I like the first one best Shannon....
OOOH.. Can't wait to see it...Is it the horrockses dress??  I sure have been hoping some one does it..can't wait to see it..hope you have fun sewing this week.. You need to give us a peek at the fabric you chose..
Hi Charlotte and Judy - Yes, I am doing the Horrockses and I will have to add substantial margins all around the pattern too!  I've got some red and white fabric - I went to King's Lynn.  There's a brilliant shop there called The Fent Shop.  It's been there for years and it's full of rolls of fabric - an old fashioned type fabric shop.  This year they were given a Royal Warrant of all things (Sandringham is nearby)!  They are very reasonable though and I got some stuff at £3.45 per metre.  I'll post a picture at the weekend.  It's just a simple flower print on a red background, but it's fun and jolly.

How exciting! I may have to have a trip to King's Lynn very soon ;0) Is the Fent shop easy to find?

I have got some fabric too, I got mine from croftmill, it's white with red roses, I thought it was very 50s.

I have no idea if I will manage the dress though, it seems a bit complicated for me, I have only managed the Colette dress patterns and they were super easy and already in my size.

That's nice!  Mine's a bit more modern, but I like it and I think it'll be ok.  I've looked at the pattern instructions and they seem quite well written, so I'll give it a go.
