The Sew Weekly Sewing Circle

I don't know about you guys, but I LOVE getting stuff in the mail. And I LOVE sending stuff! And, of course, I LOVE sewing! So, I ask you, what's better than getting a pattern in the mail!??

As such, I'd like to do a pattern swap. I did some research into how Kat did this last year, and her method seemed pretty successful, so I'm not going to re-invent the wheel  here. I am going to add a few items to the directions (see below), just to ensure maximum happiness for participants. So here goes (I totally lifted this from Kat's post, BTW):

THE RULES

  •  Everyone who takes part will send a pattern to their swap partner. ETA: With so many lovely seamstresses/sewers/sewist/sewasauraus rexs located globally, the swap is international. Be prepared to ship internationally!

  •  Patterns: New or vintage--it's up to you, but try your best to match a pattern to your partner's interests. ETA: Patterns may be cut or un-cut. However, if you choose to send an cut pattern, please make sure all pieces are included!

  •  I'll take sign-ups for the swap until SUNDAY APRIL 1, 2012

  • I'll then put all the names into a magic hat (aka a spreadsheet and random.org's number generator) and email you the name, address, likes/dislikes, measurements and Sew Weekly name for your swap mate.

  • After that, we'll all have 2 weeks to find a pattern we think our swap partner would like and get it in the mail.

  •  Once we all receive our swap pattern, we'll post it up on here (use the tag patternswap2012) so we can see what we all got! (Don't forget to thank your partner!)

  •  And then your challenge is to use that pattern - either as a separate challenge, or as part of a Sew Weekly challenge, whatever works for you.  Then post the picture of your creation up on here, using the tag patternswap2012 again so we can all see them.

INFO I NEED FROM PARTICPANTS
A brief little survey, if you will. Please email me the following info at tina_crossgrove(at)hotmail(dot)com:
  • Name
  • Mailing Address
  • Measurements/Pattern Size
  • Sew Weekly Name
  • Likes/Dislikes
For the likes/dislikes, I was thinking something like this (using myself as an example): I like vintage, retro, or modern patterns inspired by/with a vintage or retro feel; specifically I like the styles 1930s-very early 1970s . I do not like empire waist shirts or dresses or "boxy" designs.
Okay! Go ahead and sign up!

You're welcome!  I'm going to do a post about the lovely things that you sent to me too - I've just had 101 things to do this past couple of weeks!  Thanks so much for organising this and for letting me join in at the last minute.

I've just posted a picture of the lovely things you sent to me Tina and also blogged about it on http://www.margueritedesigns.blogspot.com

Thanks again!

I found an awesome package from Seeks waiting for me when I got home from vacation. She sent me two different patterns, a classy 60s wrap dress and a 70s gown, which I blogged about here. Seeks, I'm glad you couldn't resist sending the 70s pattern. I'm totally in love with it. I want to swish around wearing that gown every day, although my coworkers in my uber-casual office would probably look at me even more strangely than they do when I show up in a skirt. :) Thank you so much!

Dang it lol Guess I joined Sewing Circle a week late .. this sounds like an awesome swap would of loved to join all of you. Happy Swamping everyone looks like you are all having so much fun:)

Thank you so much Paloma - I got my package in the mail, and love it all!  :-)  I've written a blog post here about it:  http://macskakat.wordpress.com/2012/05/07/pattern-swap-fun/

I am soooo tardy with this... but thank you Kat! I did get my pattern and I love it! I've been wanting to make a shirt dress out of eyelet for a while now, and this pattern looks perfect. Thank you so much, and sorry for being so late with this!
