The Sew Weekly Sewing Circle

Some of us have started saying we'd like a UK meet up.... sooooo, who is interested? And where do you live? And are you willing to travel???????

I have just looked at the rail map of the uk, we could meet centrally somewhere, sometime this summer? We seem to have people from Edinburgh to Devon....

I'll start, I live in Lincolnshire, I can travel within reason (!), but I need some time to organise babysitting ;0) I would LOVE to meet some of the people I have met online and chat about sewing...

Who's in?

Yes! It is very similar, I do like the way the skirt falls

I have thought about the V&A dress and although I love it, its not for me this time. I have downloaded it and it sits in the waiting project pile. I thought it may have been ok for my sisiters wedding but in truth I have chosen something else and not in SW colour scheme. So I have a new plan, consulting my material stash I have found this..

red,white and blue!
This is soooo lovely. I am dead jealous. Perfect for the colour scheme! I must admit to a penchant for nautical - all the nice girls love a sailor ;0)

Charolette,

love this fabric... Looks perfect for ya'lls fabric meet.. What pattern do you have in mind? I love the nautical theme..always have.. Wouldnt a sailor collar type dress be pretty in this fabric?  Can't wait to see what you choose?

I really like that!
pretty!! I love it! It's perfect....
thanks everyone. I have a whole list of things I would like to make with this but I can only choose one!! It was someones bed sheet, got it from a boot fair for 75p ! YAY I'm a girl for a bargin!
even better! can't wait to see what it becomes...

Hi Charolette...

here I go with my 'dumb' self again.. When you say meters... is that the same as our 'yards'  and the money thing is P ,  the same as cents here?? and what about dollars.. Just curious????  I am really learning from sew weekly..

I can't believe that beautiful fabric is a bed sheet.. Charolette T. and Mena and several others  come up with the prettiest bed sheets.. We dont have them over here, [I dont think]..I never see any, or I'm not looking at the right place.ha

I LOVE, LOVE  a bargain too. Just thrills me too.. Cant wait to see the dress.

hi Judy, a meter is a little bigger than a yard. and P stands for pence, which is like cents. It is hard to remeber that we don't all come from the same place, other than one world. x x x

Yea... it is so hard to remember ,when we are writing  that we are across the world from each other.ha thankyou so much for the lesson..

wow......75 P    or in my case--75 cents for that beautiful sheet..No wonder , you are so excited. I am happy for you..

Just curious...does ya'll fabric come in  45 or 60 inches wide or is it different??   I am learning. One of these days...I will just know, when I read  these things.. ha

Yes, the fabric is 45 inches or 60 inches wide usually!

There are 100 pence in a pound, like dollars and cents, but a dollar is worth about 62pence. So 75p is about 1 dollar 22 cents!

So your fabric was less than a pound a metre!  Super bargain!

Personally the most confusing thing for me is that we are all in different time zones. My posts always appear at an odd time (to my way of thinking!).
