The Sew Weekly Sewing Circle

I have done a Very Bad Thing. I have coveted a vintage pattern that was quite expensive. It's a 1930s dress pattern. I really like it. So I bought it..... I can't tell you how much I paid because it's just too naughty... I'll post photos when it arrives though....

I am a larger bust size so I got a bit excited this pattern was my size!

How much is too much to pay? I love a charity shop find or an ebay bargain but my pattern box is bulging with cheapo patterns I bought that are not attractive or not in my size....

Do you buy lots of cheap patterns or hang out for the one you want and pay a big price for it if necessary?

How much is the most you have paid for a pattern?

What a great site!  A whole pattern encyclopaedia!I will be having a really good look when I get back from work tonight.

Thank you Debi, your sleuthing makes sense ;0)

Oh Charolette... Know wonder ...you fell in love.. this is beautiful.. I would have went overboard on this one too.. I love it. It doesnt look like ,it will be too complicated..I CAN'T  WAIT  to see what you choose for it.

I will send pictures of my last week splurges...whenever they come in the mail.. [of course, mine is not this pretty,ha]

wow that is a lovely looking pattern, no wonder you couldn't live without it. You need to do your hair like the pattern too!
Oh this is stunning, I completely understand your want for this pattern.

My guess would be the 20's but honestly just a guess.

You'll have to share step by step. I'm so excited for you!

Thanks Cathe, the only problem being I am not an experienced seamstress. So my ambition far outstrips my ability!

Not sure whether to jump in and have a go or try to get more experienced before I try... I can't even decide what sort of material to use...

GO for it.... You may even decide you like it well enough...to do several from this pattern.. its so pretty.. Happy Sewing.
Charlotte - just jump in!!  Get some cheap fabric and give it a whirl - I am sure you will surprise yourself with your skills - and it's a great way to learn more.  There are heaps of very talented ladies here that I am sure will lend you a helping hand if you need it.   Go for it!!!

Too funny, I feel the same way about fabric, ugh I have to stop. We have this wonderful outlet store that buys dead stock and overs. I just get lost poking around and end up with way to much fabric. Of course it's easy to justify, I'll use it (someday). So perhaps we both can go to rehab together! Or maybe we just need to have a big swap!

Now.. that sounds like the life!!!!  My friends or daughter doesnt want to go shopping with me because I am obsessed..ha   I too love fabric.. I tell everyone , I am a "fabric alcholic".. I can't resist it. If  it is on sale..it has to come home with me...because.....................I will use it someday!!!

I have to go to the doctor tomorrow , in  Tupelo [bigger town 55 min from me], They have 3 fabric stores.. So, I have plans to go early, and shop until my appointment.. ooooooooooooooh... I need to stay home...But ,am really looking forward to it..

Have fun shopping Judy, hope the doctor's goes well and you are feeling ok.

Luckily there isn't a fabric shop near me. But I do have quite a bad internet habit - much worse since I started the weekly challenges because I just have to have a stash to use at the last minute ;0)

Yep... I think we get our fix ..anyway we can...internet or in person..I think I am doing both.oooooooooooooh....
What a great way to make a visit to the doctor more bearable!
