Hi Charlotte - thanks for the friend request, and the lovely feedback on my latest creation.  I am having so much fun with the Sew Weekly challenges and "meeting" so many talented women .... it is quite addictive.  I'm hoping some of the creativity I'm seeing will rub off on me!!  Happy sewing!

Hi Charlotte - thank you for the lovely message.  It is amazing how our confidence grows when we do something regularly .... how true that practice makes perfect (well almost perfect!!).  I can't wait to see what you come up with for the wedding - it will be amazing. In the mean time, enjoy the journey!

Hi Charolette P.,

I am in your boat with the grading/sizing patterns..oooh..driving me crazy.ha  I have sewed for years, but not alot for me lately.. I use to could buy a pattern and it fit..not any more.[old age is showing,ha].

And I just recently got into the vintage patterns. and they are made soooo small. anyway, wanted to tell you ,I use the threads blog that they sent you..its great..but I also  met a girl named Andrea.. [so very nice]. Her blog is The New Vintage Wardrobe.. then go to her link..how to grade a pattern... she explains it in simple language and  doesnt do a lot of steps..She is very nice.

I got an old vintage pattern out ,that i was wanting to do ..today.. I did just what she said, and it was so much easier than  all the books and stuff ,I had been reading..

hope this helps..  Loved your dress this week.so pretty.Happy Sewing.Judy

You  are welcome...

Yep... the vintage patterns REALLY depressed me too.ha Those ladies DEFINTILEY had TINY waist..

I worked on  a vintage pattern yesterday trying Andrea's method of grading, It was simple. It didnt take hours either.. So much better..  I just wanted to see if it worked..

Let me know ,how it comes out..and hey...dont be depressed... I told myself....I am NOT going by the vintage pattern sizes. I will stick with the Big 4 sizes..they sound better.ha. Have a great day.Happy Sewing,Judy

Thanks Charlotte.  It ended up only being 15cm high when it reached New Zealand, so no real danger, thankfully!  Terrible seeing what's been happening in Japan though - so sad and horrible!  :-(

You'll get to see my creation for this week soon, I promise!  I've nearly got it all cut out, hoping to get it finished in time for a lunch with my boyfriends parents tomorrow so we can get some photos taken on the way home.  :-)

Hello!

I would love to, thank you... where is the meet happening?

At 4:13am on March 26, 2011, Magpie Mimi said…

Hi!  Charlotte put me on to the UK meet up in May and I noticed you'll be on a train coming into Paddington, if I'm able to come I'll also be arriving in Paddington on the Swansea-London train, if you're not on that train we can meet in Paddington and wait for the others to pick us up or find our way together to the meeting place?

Hello!  Yeah I've got the setting that stops things being published before my approval by the seem of things, will have to change that.  I live half way between Newport and Cardiff in a village in a valley.

Haven't looked at train times yet so will let you know and try and be there about the same time.  Give me about 30mins to work it out and I'll get back to you!  I think it should be pretty easy though.

We went to Bluestone year before last and can highly recommend the Spa!  You can book in even if you're not staying on the site.   Also if you get the chance go to Broadhaven South beach it's a National Trust beach and it's beautiful.  I've inboxed you too. xx
