'I Can Fly' by Ruth Krauss. Pictures by Mary Blair
This little baby doll dress I shall name 'The Mary Blair! ' she was made from quilting/craft cotton using approx 2metres at around $10. I fully lined her as the fabric was a tad bit see through. I really love sifting through the quilting fabrics because the prints are always so much more interesting and my mind goes all crazy like with ideas darting about when I'm wandering about trying to choose something. Im like a kid in a candy store. So to jazz things up a tad I added a front panel—lets call it a bib and trimmed it with red piping and a broderie anglaise fabric trim to add some va va voom to the dress, did I mention I love my sewing machines piping foot? It's fantastic and makes your garments look all professional and stuff. I used a vintage 60's sewing pattern but for the life of me can't find it as I made this dress last year. I'm pleased with the fit I'd just better not put any weight on as she's quite snug across the front. Would I wear it again? sure! but not at the moment it's freezing and I'm sitting here fully rugged up with a balaclava on as I've been poorly, sneezing on people and stuff...not good.
....and shoes to suit.
see you next week!Comment
