Hi Carthe,

It is addicting, isn't it?  I love seeing all the cute things people make..It is so inspiring.I just can't wait for the next weeks callenges to come up..[I think if I spent more time sewing, instead of  visiting "sew weekly", I 'd have tons of stuff sewed,ha.

I am so thankful, I found this sight. It was by accident. Mena is so  talented. And she has the best ideas.. Happy Sewing.

Hi Cathe,

You are so right.. Sewing  is so addictive and it dominates your thoughts... I have been sewing for 25 yrs [now Im telling you , Im  an old woman,ha]. I sewed for my daughter all the time..  and I worked as Respiratory therepist at the hospital.. So, I do understand your frustration of  "no time".. I was in the same boat.. I too, would schedule my time off to sew.. Just love it.

I love finding the fabrics and patterns on sale.. and a bargain thrills me. Everywhere I go, I hunt fabric stores. Cant help it..

I was so proud to find Sew weekly... no one around me sews..none of my friends..And I love having someone to talk to ,that enjoys the same thing.. and knows the passion we have for it..

I am just now getting into sewing for me..I have sewed for my daughter and grandaughters alot..and decided, I wanted to sew "for me".. sure, they hate it.ha

I also love meeting people from all over the world..and seeing there different ideas..so fun..

Proud to meet you.. I added you to my friends list.. Happy Sewing.Judy

Hi Cathe

Thanks for the lovely comments about my Cheat's Dress.  I actually started this dress in October last year, and finished it in January as part of my New Year's resolution to do more sewing (before I found the Sew Weekly challenge).  It is Vogue V8469, it went together very well, and one that I will probably use again.

Have a great week.

Hi Cathe,

As we have similar measurements, I just wanted to ask how you've gone with Colette patterns? Have you ever made any of their dresses, or just their separates? I bought a dress pattern without looking at the sizing and found that my measurements are spread over quite a few sizes and have no idea how to make it work for me. Also, do you use vintage patterns? I've recently discovered 1940s pattern sizing - their standards are 34" bust, 28" waist, 37" hip. I don't have to grade them like I do for 50s patterns so I love it! I love your sewing and your blog by the way!

Hi Cathe,

Definitely let me know how you get on with the Colette dresses - I took one look at the size chart, one look at the construction of the dress and didn't even unfold the pattern pieces. I'm pretty certain I couldn't figure out the grading required! I will be buying some of their separates though - yay for the Australian dollar right now! I love all your outfits - the construction is always so flawless and your details incredible.

Thanks Cathe, I don't know if the dress is exactly right but it fits (which was a big worry!), it has taken me ages! Wish you could be with us tomorrow - maybe next time!

I know what you mean with pattern adjustments. I think I've got a handle on how to grade vintage patterns that fit my bust size and I just have to expand the waist/hip measurement. Leaving the waist/hip measurement untouched and shrinking the bust measurement however, completely different story (I'm a 1950s size 16 but have to shrink the bust 3"). I made about 8-9 muslins for one bodice and have given up for now!

Which Colette dress patterns did you buy? I bought the Chantilly which, given the construction details, I think will be far out of my scope to grade and fit (being both a size 0 and a size 6). Oh well, live and learn! I'm still tempted by the Rooibos, even though I know I could probably never get it to fit me!
