Grey Princess Coat

My grey princess coat - made from Butterick 5425, with modifications. The body is grey wool, the inside is pink lining of some kind, probably poly. The flat piping is black micro suede. I did the embroidered designs with a simple chain stitch.

Hey Rachael, I love your style.  Where did you learn to sew?

Hey Trish! Thank you :D I sewed a bit as a kid, and through young-adulthood to make my own costumes, but I really learned how to do it properly while working for my friends Jess and Lianna at their custom shop, here. http://www.etsy.com/shop/MacheteNSons?ref=seller_info It was an invaluable experience, they make anything a client wants, custom fit. So we did different things all the time, from 3 piece suits to plus sized knits. It was much more valuable than school I think, because it was such hands on learning.
