HELP, zippers!!

I read and watched videos on how to do a simple centered zipper application. Not invisible, just centered. Someone said to tape it down, then sew from the right side ( topstitch). Seemed easy…Continue

I just got into this show, and watched all the episodes in a row. Anyone else see Marnie's dress in the second to last episode? They are standing in the apartment, Hannah is talking about one of her…Continue

Linda Reynolds replied to A Woo's discussion HELP, zippers!!
"Conventional zippers are hard. Invisible zippers especially for a dress like what you have described would have been easier and would look considerably better. That said let's deal with the one you are trying to install. You are going to…"

Joann replied to A Woo's discussion HELP, zippers!!
"Gosh, Darling!  Can you un-do a side seam with little fuss?  (Any main seam will do in a pinch, the straighter, the better.) Yes?  Good,  then put your zip in on the flat.  Once you've removed the naughty zipper and…"

DONE with Colette Pastille

I had a lot of issues with this dress, see my blog if you want more info: http://toomuchinspirationtoprocess.blogspot.com/ I guess the main thing I have to say is, if you are over a size...12? You might want to not cut the cap of the cap sleeves any bigger, they look odd. I cut way into them. I love the new look. I didn't bother with pleats, or a zipper, and I know it needs a good pressing still. BUT! Love.…See More

HELP, zippers!!

I read and watched videos on how to do a simple centered zipper application. Not invisible, just centered. Someone said to tape it down, then sew from the right side ( topstitch). Seemed easy enough... but! the dress is really long, and the instructions said sew everything else first... now I am stuck, like, I get halfway down the zipper and all the fabric is pulling and stuff, how to explain.... I am going from the neckline deeper into the dress, and it is awkward with all that material. So I…See More

Girls!

I just got into this show, and watched all the episodes in a row. Anyone else see Marnie's dress in the second to last episode? They are standing in the apartment, Hannah is talking about one of her essay's, and Marnie doesn't like that essay. It is a sheath dress, with a belt, and such a weird neckline! Like it was pressed all wrong on purpose. How? Where? I loved it. Also, the season finale dress Marnie wears, with the twist in the front... I love it! Not the fabric, but the twist, and the…See More

I made a dress!

No pattern, with a knit fabric ( Not sure why this seems to scare so many people? It was pretty easy.), and I even did a fancy neckline and armhole thing, using facings. The only downside was that I when I was trimming the neck seam thing, I cut into the dress! Nooooo! Such a bummer. But I wore it out to play badminton last night, and am wearing it now. Oh! I traced a tank top and just traced it longer, done. If I had ever installed a sleeve before, I would have done that, but I haven't yet.…See More

Colette Pastille muslin

Wow, so, this dress, after trying to figure out what the book was saying about sleeve facings, was actually really quick and easy. Good thing Gertie has a video up showing how to get those facings on! I am visual, but I guess I take directions better from video or in person than reading them. That might make my sewing hobby a lot more challenging, eh?  I was reading ahead in the Colette…See More

"I just started, I did a muslin of the Pastille, and it is actually huge on me, so I think you'd be fine. Sarai, the author, says her sizes are more true to modern sizing."

"Youe have the Colette book.  Have you made anything from it yet?  Do their patterns fit women with hips?"
