The Sew Weekly Sewing Circle

This is another self-drafted, made from a duvet cover, based on a 50's dress illustration. I really can't help myself, that description would work for most of my dresses.

This has cut on sleeves, a pintucked design feature in front, pleated skirt, and round neckline. It's far and away my favorite dress to wear.

Lovely! It makes me think of an updated (for the 50s at least!) version of Scarlett O'Hara's fluffy barbeque dress, although that might be helped along by your hat. Those pintucks work so beautifully with the pattern on the duvet cover!

Haha I just read your blog post and saw that you made the same GWTW connection! That means it must really be that awesome :)

Hey thanks, ladies.  :)

Charlotte-- I told my husband about my grandfather.  He's a WW2 vet, was an officer in the Navy and very proud to be a fighter pilot.  All man.  He then had three little girls (and two boys) after the war who grew up into little ladies...  My grandmother and her daughters mostly wore hand-made clothing.  He was a hobby carpenter who took handwork seriously, so marking a perfect hem for him was a point of pride.  He was still marking hems well into the 1990's, and I suspect if I brought him one of my fluffy dresses he'd know what to do.  ;)
