Here is my genuine 1925 'one-hour dress'.... that has taken me the better part of the week (ok a lot of that time was spent staring at it and trying to understand the directions)

Because of the busy print you can't see the waterfall effect that is supposed to happen down the side and the hem is being held with pins.
It actually feels really comfortable and cool on but there is no way I would wear it out and about.

I think it is going to be a hack job and a top and skirt will be the eventual result.

Still, it was fun having a go at that pattern and I'll approach it again sometime.

Well done you for having a go - even if it's going to be a hack job! I love that you tried out an original pattern. You might not want to wear it out and about.. but you'd look perfect at the Gatsby picnic I say! Quite smashing really. I've been umming and ahhhing over this challenge... not sure I'm taking the plunge. I had the same idea as you.. if it doesn't look good it can always become a top and skirt. lol.

what a very game try, a nearly 90 year old pattern as well, I think you are so clever getting this far, and love the hat

Jen you get kudos for making something for this challenge, it's a tough one! And I agree, you would look perfect at a Gatsby picnic!
