The Sew Weekly Sewing Circle

I've called this one the sampler because it reminded me of the home ec projects I used to do in high school.. 'you can make anything you want but you have to include a minimum of 4 techniques on this list' .. so.. pintucks, lace trim, scallops & decorative buttons... yay I pass! This week I set myself the added challenge of no trips to the fabric store and to use the most plain jane of a pattern in my stash and see if I could make it pretty. This pattern is so so so basic. 2 pieces.. no darts, no shaping! It's like the pillowcase top without the pillowcase! lol. I used scrap chambray and white cotton, some of my never ending lace & glass buttons. (anyone know if glass buttons can survive the washing machine?)Also..have you noticed everyone's into scallops at the moment! This is my first attempt.. and they are not the breeze I thought they would be. I read a tip somewhere about using a smaller stitch length - next time for sure!

Hey Casey - Well Done. What a great top. The embellishment is ideal.

The colours are lovely together Casey and the buttons are perfect. I'm not sure about the glass buttons survival rating, perhaps a delicate wash cycle?

This is sweet Casey. The buttons are gorgeous - delicate wash in a lingerie bag or hand wash woiuld be my guess. At first nI thought the centre panel was part of the lace. So so sorry, after reading your blurl and looking closer you have done a great job of the pintucks yourself. This has made such a sweet top, shame we are heading into winter, you need to go find a sweet little cardi to match!!
