I nearly didn't put this up, but seeing as Charlotte T. has been brave, so too will I.
Fabric: Upholstery weight orange fabric.
Pattern: Simplicity 5324 which had an interesting front panel.
Year:~1975
Notions: invisible zip, thread, trim around neck.
Wear at all or again: jury is still out.

I decided to start with a plain pattern and then fancy it up. I really like the weight of the material and it all went together very well, but I couldn't embellish it to save my life. It sat on Gertie for three days with me hanging various bits of lace and trim off it but none would work.
It did have sleeves which were removed - they looked all wrong.
Maybe the problem is that I could see this material as being on a couch and so anything I added to it just made it look upholstered.
Oh well...

I like it too - what about a lace collar?

I think it is beautiful, you just need the right accessories to become a great outfit, thedetail of the neck is very delicate in contrast to the upholstery fabric. Great!

Add a belt, change the trim to a chocolate brown, or another brown shade. The trim should be a multi-colored brown, but not too wide in width. Plus, add trim along the bottom of the dress. You could add three trims in different shades of brown (or even throw in a green one to add contrast) and widths.

Thank you all - LNT these are some great solutions. I admit I was only looking at the trims and notions I had on hand, but it may be worth a recci through the local Lincraft.
