My brother in law's getting married next May and I agreed to make two flower girls' dresses. The real ones will be ivory and plum, but I had to familiarise myself with the pattern first (Butterick 5458) so I had a go with pink and black taffeta and made a huge black tulle pettycoat. The dress is a bit big (3yrs), but at least I'll have something to give myself an idea when the times comes to make the real thing.

lovely job - it looks fancy and comfortable. Very necessary for little girls. We'll enjoy seeing the real dresses when they are done.
