A resale store purchase of a RTW dress, with a 'big box' store label, was transformed into a new vintage style dress reflecting the height 1920's fashion. I kept the main body of my RTW dress, adding skinny sleeves from Vintage Vogue 2354 pattern and a second bias underskirt using Simplicity 2614 pattern. Starting with a Vogue 8907 pattern, I redrew the collar to turn it into a shawl collar, also called a "capelet" or "shawl" collar which was popular in the 20's to 30's. My dress' fabric is mainly rayon/modal knits. There is a bow added on my left shoulder, as well as a hand stitched border for the collar. My post for this re-fashioned dress has more pictures and info, and also explains a bit on the history of knitwear.
