I spend most of my time in either Cambridge or Norfolk, but at the weekends, it's Norfolk and as this is the only opportunity when I can take photos, this week I've done a Norfolk Fenland inspired skirt. There's a pleat and a tie belt in there, which I hope to photo soon (my camera batteries ran out on the 'photoshoot'!) but at least you can see the fabric against the local architecture, the brown is known as 'carrstone' and is found all over this area. I'm standing outside the local church on the only hill for miles, surrounded by the town and fenland stretching out into the distance. Just to finish up, I bought the fabric in the local store - I think it's beautiful, all embroidery and appliqued bits of corduroy and taffeta etc with bits of gold thread shot through. I think it looks like farmers fields or allotments! It was only £6.50 per metre, of which I used 2.

I love this!  You're right -- the skirt is reminiscent of the country.  And it coordinates so well with that lovely church!  I have plenty of hills where I live, but few beautiful churches!

Thanks Charlotte - I think I am being 'me' with this project instead of trying to be someone else, or being too influenced. Thanks also Casey, Amanda and Melissa! Amanda - yes, the local 'vernacular' is interesting here!

great piece of fabric and I love what you've done with it. I love seeing the patchwork of fields from the air. The land looks like velvet and corduroy with mirrors of lakes and when the light gleams on them, it's just wonderful.
