The Sew Weekly Sewing Circle

My skirt was started and completed in only two hours, and cost me very little. It was roughly based on the skirt portion of Simplicity 1659 dresses. The pattern was adapted slightly to be made into a skirt, as well as fit on one yard of a soft, rayon knit fabric. I sewed in four darts into the skirt front for some nice draping and the skirt side seams are French seams. After assembling the skirt, I took navy waistband elastic (cut and sewn to fit my waist) and, with hubby's help, stretched and pinned the skirt and elastic together. After some quick zig-zag stitching along the waistband, my skirt was done in an afternoon and gave us a good reason to go out to eat!
