Threefold inspiration; the big chunky bracelet that I never wear, a pair of brown shoes that to me look like vintage inspired Mary-Janes (and have a low enough heel to wear with shorts!) and also my current hair color, which is henna-red-fading-to-natural-blonde-at-the-tips. Also inspired by the unseasonally warm January weather.

No... patterns baffle me. I've yet to complete a garment with a pattern; it's one of my 2012 resolutions to do so.
I was going to ask the same thing - I'm so impressed by you ladies that don't use patterns! I love the romper. So cute!
Thanks. :) I'm impressed by ladies that do use patterns; you can get so much more intricate with them!
super cute (and now I know where all of our warm weather has gone! It's supposed to be summer in Australia!)
Hi Jessica! This looks really fun and pretty. You mentioned that patterns baffle you and I felt the same way when I started out. I really recommend Colette's Free Sorbetto Top Pattern Download or Burdastyle's Jane Pattern if you're interested in giving patterns a try. These are really well explained and detailed, especially the Sorbetto top.
Good suggestions, thank you! I might try the Jane, it's super cute. The sorbetto looks like a back piece and a front piece with a pleat, but the Jane seems like the perfect balance of simple but with multiple pieces.
