Here is a close up of the waistband and the print of my new two hour high-low hem skirt. There are splashes of some fall 2013 Pantone colors - linden green and samba - on a super soft Indie print rayon knit. I sewed in four darts into the skirt front (they can be seen to the left of my flower pin) for some nice draping. After assembling the skirt, I took navy waistband elastic (cut and sewn to fit my waist) and, with hubby's help, stretched and pinned the skirt and elastic together. After some quick zig-zag stitching along the waistband, my skirt was done in an afternoon and gave us a good reason to go out to eat! My skirt is roughly based on the an adapted skirt portion of Simplicity 1659 dresses.
