Thanks Cathe for such a lovely reply - I am pleased to say I made something to people, but I do feel a bit shy about it. A common response to my sewing (OK, what my mother says) is why bother if you can buy it cheaper?
I also went into a totally fabulous small vintage and homemade dress shop recently and while I was in raptures over absolutely everything the shop owner told me "some people just don't get it". Maybe that's why I love sewweekly. Everyone here gets it.
I will keep it under my hat a bit longer I think - I will get my fix of talking about it next week at the UK sewweekly meet, I am so excited I may bust.
Feeling is mutual..well said Charolette...
I think my love of Sew Weekly is the same as the majority of people. None of my friends sew so it is hard to get excited about it with them, they are starting to get the idea that I make things but I still don't think I can share my latest fabric find with them or the trials and tribulations of making a certain thing. They just wouldn't get it. One reason I joined is because I was looking for a way to make more and have a bit of a deadline to make it, the other reason was the community aspect of it, everyone is lovely and I believe they give their honest opinion in their comments.
I never go shouting around the office or to my friends that I have made something, but I am never ashamed to say that I made it when somebody comments on said item.
Charlotte, you shouldn't feel shy about it and the reason we bother isn't because you can buy it cheaper it is because it is unique, it makes you proud, and we have a whole lot of fun doing it too :)
