UK meet (and swap?) - anyone interested?
Some of us have started saying we'd like a UK meet up.... sooooo, who is interested? And where do you live? And are you willing to travel???????
I have just looked at the rail map of the uk, we could meet centrally somewhere, sometime this summer? We seem to have people from Edinburgh to Devon....
I'll start, I live in Lincolnshire, I can travel within reason (!), but I need some time to organise babysitting ;0) I would LOVE to meet some of the people I have met online and chat about sewing...

What about somewhere in London? I'm doing a knitting course at the moment and we (students) from all over meet up regularly in museums etc. The last place was the British Museum, which is really easy to get to from Kings Cross.

That's a great idea Diane, I have only been to London once when I was 14 so I don't know my way around!
Is King's Cross the easiest station for people to get to?
Another silly question - do any of the museums have a fashion display? That would be really good for us all to visit!
More importantly , is there cake in the cafe....??? lol

London is probably the easiest for me to get to (about 6 hours by train from Edinburgh)....I would love to visit the V & A. Did you know Tilly of Tilly and the Buttons blog is doing her secondment at the V & A?? Also Karen from 'Did You Make That' just did a big blogger meet up in London. Karen has been getting some fab-u-lous fabric deals at a local market there...check out her write-up of that meet-up. Maybe we can convince Karen and Tilly and others in and near the London area to join us for a round 2--super fabulous blogger meet-up? What about sometime in early May (i.e. post royal wedding but pre-major tourist time)?

Yes London ! and Debi is right V&A is the best place in the world ! Personally May is difficult, I have my sisters wedding and a weekend away already booked. Maybe very early May could be ok....
Must check out those blogs now, I love being on this site and don't always get long to look at other sites as my time on the comtuer is short lived as my boys are always waiting for their turn.

Just looked at it's not an addiction it's a hobby which made me and my husband laugh. Really liked the idea of a shopping trip for fabric too. In my part of Devon there are 2 shops and thats it unless I drive over an hour for just one more shop. I long for the days that I remember, buying fabric from market stalls ( my mum would then make my clothes, now I'll have to get on with it myself).

Like the other Charlotte there are no fabric shops near me, I get my fabric online or in charidee shops....
I think my husband has a meet for his forum (volvos, don't ask) in York in the last weekend in may but otherwise I could do that!

Hi there - gosh, I've only just found all these replies - will try and answer some questions. Kings Cross is the main station to get to from this area (East Anglia). Maybe the station would be a good meet up place (Charlotte?). The British Museum is just around the corner, walking distance. The V&A is a bit harder to get to - I went to the Quilts and Grace Kelly exhibitions there last year ON MY OWN! this time on the tube but managed it OK. It's where all the museums are, on Exhibition Road and there's a kind of walk through tunnel that takes you straight there from the tube. Yes, there are Fashion Galleries there from centuries ago up to the present day. I've been a few times over the years. Lots of inspiration there - remember seeing Diana's Elvis dress the last time. Shopping as well would be great!
