The Sew Weekly Sewing Circle

It has come to my attention that I sew a whole lot of dresses and skirts, but have yet to tackle pants.  Does anyone have any recommendations of good, first-time, pants patterns?

I typically wear bootcut or straight leg - never wide leg or flare.  Also, do you have any recommended tutorial sites?  At one time I was going to do a trouser sew-along but I just couldn't get past all of the fun dresses that I was working on.  Thanks for your help!

I'm not too helpful here as I too need to make the jump into the world of pants/trousers! I've dancing around this idea but I'm thinking I just need to try.
I like the "Ellen" pattern on, it's free and if you leave off the patch pockets totally basic. It's a straight-leg, non-stretch, lower-rise pattern, although it does run a bit large. I think lower-rise is a bit easier to fit than high rise, but your mileage may vary. Good luck!
Believe it or not, pants are pretty easy to sew (and fit) once you figure it out.  I strongly recommend you get "Pants for Real People".  It will take you through the whole fitting process.  Once you have that down, any pattern will work.
great book recommendations

Hi Cristine,

I wrote a couple of tips and how to draft your own... Hope you find it helpful

Thanks for all of the suggestions! I'll definitely have to check out that book and I'm looking into the links now.
