Hi-My name is Soo Jin but all of my friends call me Gina-so you should too. I live in Evanston, Illinois and am originally from Texas. I am married to the best man on the planet and have two boys -ages 7 and 12. I started sewing when I was in elementary school. Mostly really awful stuff that I wore with much pride to school. It's been about 18 years since I've sewn with passion and am really excited to be a part of this community. I also make jewelry and handbags. I decided that for 2011 I needed to start sharing my work with others who shared my love of all things beautiful.
I am a Fashion Consultant and Stylist and co-own Bombshell Beauties where we specialize in photo sessions for ladies night gatherings, bachelorette parties, and boudoir photos (for that special someone) though I barely have time for it since running the home and raising my boys is my top priority right now. I look forward to getting to know you all and seeing the wonderful things that your hands and machines make!
That's so crazy! My bestfriend from kindergarten is named Soo Jin, we still call her Soo.
Your business sounds delightful! I hear you on maintaining a house, and I don't have children yet ;.; I look forward to sharing work with each other :D Have a great day.
Hi All - I am Jen. I am in Victoria, Australia.
I am a bit of a messer when it comes to my sewing. I've been quilting for a couple of years and have finally got back into dressmaking (thank you Mena - you have been a great inspiration on that count). Having moved house a few months back I finally have a dedicated sewing area , which helps a lot.
My efforts so far have included three skirts and a dress. My pile of shame (UFOs WIPs - whatever you like to call it) is shamefully large, but I hope to whittle away at it and produce something usable. ... or lots of cleaning cloths.
I work in an office and often have trouble finding time to sew and as I also am hoping for a few more wood-turning lessons from my Dad and weaving lessons from my boyfriend's aunt this year, if I manage two wearable items a month, I'll be happy.
Cheers.
Hi Charlotte,
The biggest shame at the moment is me being too lazy to do any sewing because the weather has been so weirdly hot and muggy. I've done a little sewing but when I got to the part where I had to turn on the iron, I piked out.
Does anyone have a good alternative to ironing?
Cheers.
Go naked? Tee hee ;0)
Or you could avoid the hot weather by living in England like me!
I don't like ironing much either x
Hey Casey - that's a useful tute. I have used undersewing before but only when directed to do so by the instruction.
The silly thing is that I love having the iron permanently on when patchworking or sewing because it's so handy. I just hate ironing finished garment when I want to wear them because then it's usually a rush job before work.
Cheers.
