Hello, everyone! I know I'm new here but I thought I'd jump in right off the bat for some advice.

I have a beautiful piece of olive green boiled wool that's been hiding in my stash for about 10 years now, it's a remnant piece so I think there's only about 1-1.5 yards of 54" fabric. I'm itching to do something with it now because I have a fun vintage rayon print that I know would be the perfect lining fabric for it.

I know it's a relatively small piece but I'd love to do a simple cropped jacket or something similar. Any suggestions on patterns to look for? I haven't seen anything I like that will use such a small piece. Or if you have a photo to share I can always drape the pattern myself. Thanks in advance!

PS. If you'd like to see the fabrics I can try and take a photo tomorrow :)

So I'm in love with this dress, and I think it should be really easy to make, let alone find a pattern to work with. It seems like such a simple/familiar silhouette that would be easy to find. Alas, my own search left me almost empty handed. The closest I got was the Vogue patterns V8670 and V1259, and that's with some serious adjusting. Anyone have any other ideas? Honestly, I've only sewn two articles of clothing for myself and pajama pants for my kids, so this would be a HUGE stretch for me. But I'm really starting to get the hankering to make some cute stuff for myself! Help me fullfil my dream! ;)
HELP! So called "washable" fabric markers not washing out!tag:circle.sewweekly.com,2012-02-03:6365347:Topic:1259982012-02-03T08:59:07.068ZEszter Molnarhttp://circle.sewweekly.com/profile/EszterMolnar

Hi All!

I haven't posted here much I'm sorry but I've looked on the web and not found much of a good solution to this specific problem....

I like to use those blue pens for marking my fabric and they're supposed to wash out....but it doesn't! Instead it goes a horrible brown colour as soon as I get it wet and all the projects I've used it on it hasn't come out properly.

I've given it a soak in Napisan and it's currently in the wash. After that I'm thinking of making up a paste solution of the Napisan in the hope that it will work better with less dilution.

Has anyone got any better ideas? And has anyone else experienced this before?

I know I should test it on a small piece of fabric first but isn't easy removal the whole point of these markers? I guess I will have to look for other methods of transferring pattern markings. Disappointing since the pens make such a neat line.
Independent pattern companytag:circle.sewweekly.com,2012-01-12:6365347:Topic:1212382012-01-12T15:24:41.302ZSara Grahamhttp://circle.sewweekly.com/profile/SaraGraham

I have done a Very Bad Thing. I have coveted a vintage pattern that was quite expensive. It's a 1930s dress pattern. I really like it. So I bought it..... I can't tell you how much I paid because it's just too naughty... I'll post photos when it arrives though....

Do you buy lots of cheap patterns or hang out for the one you want and pay a big price for it if necessary?
